PGA Golf Tournaments

Experience in golf hospitality is, without a doubt, the single most important element of consideration when selecting a hospitality provider. Spectrum is long on successful experiences. Since 1984, we have been involved as the exclusive or primary caterer for The Shell Houston Open.

In 1996, we were selected as the exclusive caterer for the John Deere Classic (JDC). The JDC personnel made us painfully aware of the disastrous results they had experienced with previous food and beverage providers. These problems seem to emanate from logistical obstacles coupled with poor planning on the previous caterer's part. Spectrum solved their problems and reported record sales. Since that time we have broken our records year after year. Now our commission to the tournament is nearly equivalent to the gross catering sales of the tournament upon our arrival.

The Salesmanship Club of Dallas brought Spectrum Catering to the Byron Nelson tournament in 2000. We immediately created a significant increase in gross sales and a growing increase in commissions. We exceeded their expectations and have had our contract renewed not only in corporate hospitality but now also as the on-course concessionaire.

Spectrum was selected as the caterer and concessionaire to the second oldest tournament on the PGA Tour, The Valero Texas Open (then known as the Texas Open) in 1999. Working hand in hand with Golf San Antonio and the title sponsor Valero, The Valero Texas Open is making great strides towards achieving their vision on the PGA TOUR.
While not a PGA tour event, we feel honored to have been selected as the caterer and concessionaire to The Spirit, the bi-annual world championship of amateur golf. Under the direction of Executive Director Eric Fredricksen, nearly three-dozen teams of four, and equal number of countries, converged at Whispering Pines to compete for international titles. Providing catering and concession services to the most elite amateur golfers in the world is very satisfying.

We have also been called upon to serve the LPGA at the John Q Hammons Hotel Classic in Tulsa Oklahoma. While far from the volume generated on the regular PGA TOUR, we met the challenges and delivered a very successful tournament and have been asked back for 2005.

The relationship has been unwavering through thick and thin. Now with Valero as a vibrant title sponsor, the San Antonio Golf Association, Valero and Spectrum are diligently working together to continually build on past successes.

During the past decade we have experienced spring tournaments and fall tournaments, our fair share of rain, shortened formats, and sponsor changes. We are no strangers to the potential adversities associated with golf tournaments. We are certain you have a few stories of your own!

Throughout all of these, we have successfully negotiated the potential mine field of permits, licenses, and local regulations and staffing. All in all, each day of each tournament has brought new experiences and lessons, and enriched the entire management team of Spectrum Catering, Concessions and Events. You will be the beneficiary of those lessons!

Spectrum's hallmark is a meticulous pre-event plan for production, staffing and transportation. Taking all of the logistics into account and utilizing our golf knowledge, Spectrum hospitality stays ahead of demand. Our attention to detail ensures that your sponsors and their guests' expectations are exceeded and their renewal is seamless.

We encourage you to contact each Tournament Director and we are certain that if we can't convince you that working with Spectrum will make your tournament better, they will. Our clients are our most staunch ambassadors.
